Scott A. Bartos
Chairman and Chief Executive Officer

Scott BartosMr. Bartos has more than 20 years' experience as a healthcare executive and director, and was appointed President & CEO and a member of the Board of Directors of Rural/Metro Corporation in May 2013. He was subsequently named as Chairman of the Board in February, 2014. Mr. Bartos is a Director for Alliance HealthCare Services, Inc., Cardiovascular Systems Inc. and currently serves as Lead Director for Home Dialysis Plus. Mr. Bartos previously served as President, Chief Executive Officer, and Director of LaVie Care Centers, a national long-term care company with revenues exceeding $1 billion annually, from July 2009 through the sale of the company in December 2011. From December 2008 to July 2009, he was an Executive in Residence at Warburg Pincus LLC. Mr. Bartos was Division President for Gambro Healthcare, Inc. from 2000 to 2004 and COO-East from 2004 to 2005. Mr. Bartos previously was the founder, President, CEO and a Director of Endoscopy Specialists Inc. He has extensive experience in business design, strategic planning, new product and service innovation, sales and marketing, and mergers and acquisitions with large, medium and small businesses in both public and private companies.
 

Jay L. Burkett
Chief Financial Officer

Jay L. BurkettJay Burkett is the Chief Financial Officer of Rural/Metro Corporation, a leading provider of ambulance and fire protection services. As Chief Financial Officer, Jay is responsible for the overall financial management of the company, its financial reporting, multiple corporate functions including treasury, financial planning and analysis, internal controls, audit, tax and is a member of the Executive Leadership Team.

Jay was formerly a Partner with Ernst & Young LLP and Grant Thornton LLP. As an advisory services partner with both firms, Jay provided a broad range of healthcare performance improvement services across a wide spectrum of the healthcare industry. In addition to his professional services experience, Jay served in several interim C-Suite roles throughout his 25 year career. Prior to his advisory services career, Jay has 12 years of auditing and related experience while with KPMG LLP.

Jay holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting and business administration from Butler University and is a Certified Public Accountant. In 2011, Jay was recognized by Consulting Magazine as a Top 25 Consultant.
 

Christopher R. Yearout
Chief Information Officer

Christopher R. YearoutChristopher R. Yearout joined Rural/Metro Corporation in October 2012 as Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer after spending 18 years in information technology and 12 years working with financial systems. Mr. Yearout will lead the company's customer and patient data delivery systems along with overseeing research and development. Most recently, Mr. Yearout served as Chief Information Officer for GE Capital Bank where he focused on the bank's IT operations and growing its retail deposit business. Prior to that, he served as Chief Information Officer, Governance, Risk and Compliance at GE Capital, Americas, and as Chief Information Officer of GE Capital Financial Inc., leading a team of 80 employees. Mr. Yearout received a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science from the University of Cincinnati.
 

Sven K. Johnson
Chief Strategy Officer

Sven K. JohnsonSven Johnson joined the Rural/Metro team in January 2014 as Chief Strategy Officer following over 15 years working as a consultant focused on corporate restructuring and operational improvements. Most recently Mr. Johnson was a Senior Director with Alvarez & Marsal Holdings and he previously served as a Vice President in the Corporate Finance practice of Ernst & Young. In his role as a consultant Mr. Johnson focused on assisting clients with the development of strategic restructuring alternatives, review and development of financial projections and business plans, operational improvements, working capital optimization, analysis of cash flow projections and competitive analysis. Prior to working in consulting Mr. Johnson served in management positions with Delta Airlines focused on optimizing revenue generation for the airline. Mr. Johnson is Six Sigma certified and holds a Master’s of Business Administration degree from the University of South Carolina and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Chemistry from the University of Rochester.
 

Greg James
Division President, West

Greg JamesGreg James joined the Rural/Metro team in August of 2014 as the West Division President. Greg’s background is in Biotechnology and Medical Device Sales, Commercial Operations, and E-commerce. Prior to Rural/Metro Greg was the Senior Director of Sales and Commercial Operations for Kinetic Concepts Inc. where he was responsible for their national sales force operations and productivity initiatives, including deployment, compensation, Business Intelligence, and customer relationship management programs (Salesforce.com) in alignment with revenue and expense objectives. He also worked for Applied Biosystems as their Director of Strategic Planning, Global Services Division. Greg has a Master of Business Administration (MBA), Concentration in Technology Management from Westminster College and a Master of Science in Medical Informatics, Concentration in Bioinformatics from the University of Utah. He also holds a Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry from Idaho State University. He is a certified Six Sigma Black Belt, and PMI Project Management Professional.
 

Mark A. Lashley
Division President, East

Mark A. LashleyMark A. Lashley joined Rural/Metro Corporation in August 2012 after two decades in operational and financial leadership positions. Prior to Rural/Metro, Mr. Lashley held numerous leadership positions with ARAMARK, a worldwide leader in providing food services, facilities management, uniform and career apparel to healthcare institutions, universities, school districts, stadiums and arenas. Most recently Mr. Lashley was the Regional Vice President for ARAMARK's healthcare business of the company, leading the food, environmental and plant operations services to hospital clients in seven states, the District of Columbia and the Virgin Islands. Mr. Lashley holds a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from Missouri State University.
 

John P. Karolzak
Vice President of Operations, Arizona

John P. KarolzakJohn Karolzak began his career in emergency services more than 25 years ago as a firefighter with Rural/Metro Fire Department in Pima County, Arizona, rising through the ranks to Administrative Fire Chief. In 1992, he was named Market General Manager/EMS Chief for the Company's EMS operations in Southern Arizona. In 1998, he was promoted to Division General Manager for the state of Indiana, and in 2002 was assigned operating divisions in Kentucky and Parts of Ohio. In 2009, he was promoted to Chief Operating Officer of the South Zone, and in 2010 became South Zone Vice President.  In 2011, Mr. Karolzak was named Vice President for the Company's Southwest Zone. Mr. Karolzak holds a Master's of Business Administration and Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix.
