Position Division Description
EMT EMS
Respond to requests for Basic Life Support; and provide care and transportation to patients as necessary.  Requires NYS EMT certification and excellent patient care and documentation skills.
Critical Care Tech EMS
Respond to requests for Basic and Advanced Life Support, and provide care and transportation to patients as necessary.  Requires NYS certification and excellent patient care and documentation skills.
Paramedic EMS
Respond to requests for Basic and Advanced Life Support, and provide care and transportation to patients as necessary.  Requires NYS certification and excellent patient care and documentation skills.
Dispatch Communications
Operate in SSM CAD environment.  All shifts are available.  Competitive wages and incentive programs

Emergency Medical Services

Rural/Metro’s paramedics, emergency medical technicians and dispatchers are called upon to provide the highest quality patient care in a high performance EMS system. They are supported by state-of-the-art technology and equipment to help them respond to over 60,000 calls for help each year.

As an employee in our EMS Division, you can expect:

A competitive wage and benefits package with pay for experience;

Ambulance staffed with an ALS Technician;

High-tech diagnostic and treatment equipment (including cardiac pacing, pulse oximetry,  intravenous medications, 12-lead EKGs, and infusion pump systems);

Highly respected quality assurance program;

Innovative and comprehensive continuing medical education;

Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) and trained dispatchers.

Rural/Metro will reimburse EMS Division employees for tuition upon successful completion of courses to upgrade their certification level.

Employee Benefits

Health Insurance: Available to all employees at time of hire. Rural/Metro offers a variety of health plans for employees to choose from, and pays the majority of premiums after one year of full-time employment.  For details on health insurance, inquire at time of employment.

Dental Insurance: Rural/Metro pays the majority of the premium for individual and family plans that are available.

Vacation: Full-time employees are eligible for vacation based on years of service:

Part-time union employees averaging at least 24 hours per week are entitled to 16 hours of vacation time each year.

Holidays: Employees who are scheduled to work on holidays and work those holidays will be paid one week’s pay of straight time at the end of the year.

Life Insurance: Rural/Metro pays for term life insurance for all employees.

Disability Insurance: Long-term and short-term disability plans help protect our employees if they become disabled.

401(k) Plan: Available to all employees. Employees are able to defer 1-15% of pre-tax earnings; Rural/Metro will provide a discretionary match of the first 2% based on the company’s earnings.

Sick Pay: Available to full-time employees after one year of employment..

Employee Assistance Program: Available to all employees.

Education Benefits: Upon prior written approval, employees who successfully complete a New York State approved, Critical Care or Paramedic course are eligible for 100% reimbursement for tuition and books.

Leaves of Absence: Maternal, family, adoption, personal, governmental assignment, and funeral leaves are available.

Home Health Care Division

Rural/Metro’s Home Health Care Division is seeking compassionate, caring people with a desire to help others. Home care is the answer for many of Rochester’s elderly community who need assistance with personal care, laundry, meal preparation and light cleaning so they can continue to live comfortably and safely in their own homes.

Our Home Health Care Division provides free on-site training on a flexible schedule that meets New York State Department of Health standards for Home Health Aides. We also provide classroom instruction and clinical testing for Nursing Assistants to become dually certified as Home Health Aides.
