SCOTTSDALE, AZ -- (MARKET WIRE) -- 02/22/11 -- Rural/Metro Corporation (NASDAQ: RURL) announced today that its Southwest Ambulance subsidiary was once again awarded the exclusive 911 emergency ambulance contract to serve the Sun City Fire District, which includes Sun City, Arizona.
The contract has an initial term of three years, followed by two 3-year renewal terms, for a total possible length of nine years. The contract is expected to generate $4.1 million in net ambulance revenue annually.
The contract continues an exclusive arrangement with the Sun City Fire District, where Southwest Ambulance has been the sole provider of emergency ambulance transport services for 33 years.

Thirty minutes Northwest of Phoenix, Sun City is the nation's first adult community designed for active retirees and has a population of more than 40,000 residents. Sun City's primary hospital facility is Banner Boswell Hospital, with Banner Del E. Webb Hospital located in neighboring Sun City West. The Sun City area also has more than 20 other healthcare facilities, with services ranging from independent living to skilled nursing care. Southwest Ambulance's medical professionals provide nearly 5,500 transports in Sun City annually.
